Name Meaning

This is based off both the Chinese and Japanese meanings of the characters (The meanings are essentially the same). 四 (Four), 向 (Direction), 戦 (Fight/Battle/War), or "Fight/Battle in Four Directions".

The alternative 'spelling' of the kata uses a different character at the end, 四向鎮. This last character means "Guard/Sedate/Suppress", leading to the compound meaning of "Guard/Suppress in Four Directions"
